The Omnia Collective is a Databricks partner in Australia
Databricks partner in Australia, delivering Genie, complex ELT, dashboards, apps and business logic migration.

The Omnia Collective is a Databricks partner in Australia, helping organisations modernise data platforms, consolidate business logic and give teams governed access to analytics and AI on the Databricks Data + AI Platform.
Our data engineers and machine learning specialists hold Databricks Data Engineer and Machine Learning certifications, and we have delivered Databricks deployments across retail, financial services and insurance.
Our Databricks partnership reflects the delivery capability we’ve built across data engineering, analytics and AI. For our clients, the value is being able to move from complex data foundations to governed analytics and AI use cases with one team, while keeping security, quality and cost in focus from the start.
What the partnership means for you
Through the Databricks Partner Program, certified expertise sits with the people on the project, across Databricks’ Data Engineer and Machine Learning professional tracks. We also have direct access to Databricks’ technical resources and partner enablement, which helps on a platform where product names change as features mature: Genie Spaces are now called Genie Agents.
Cost guidance is part of the process too. We advise on DBU-based pricing and cost optimisation before workloads scale, including the compute that Genie, dashboards and apps consume.
What we deliver as a Databricks partner in Australia
Databricks provides the Databricks Data + AI Platform. Our work is the pipelines, Genie Agents, dashboards and apps built on it, from moving logic out of legacy systems to putting governed data in front of business users.
Genie for natural language analytics: We design and deploy Genie Agents (formerly Genie Spaces) on Unity Catalog data, curating the tables, synonyms, column descriptions and example SQL that Genie draws on. Business users can ask questions in plain English, with access governed through the permissions and controls configured in Unity Catalog.
Complex ELT: We build ELT workloads that go beyond a simple load, with multi-source ingestion, streaming and change data capture, and dependency-heavy orchestration, using Lakeflow Spark Declarative Pipelines, Lakeflow Jobs, medallion architecture, data quality checks and CI/CD. Teams on Azure can pair Databricks compute with Azure Data Factory orchestration.
Migration of business logic into code: We move business logic out of legacy ETL tools, stored procedures and report-layer calculations into version-controlled SQL and Python on Databricks, and we reconcile the results against the source so reporting keeps working on day one.
AI/BI Dashboards: We build AI/BI Dashboards on governed Unity Catalog data, with the semantic layer and metric definitions underneath so the numbers match across dashboards and Genie.
Databricks Apps: We build internal applications that run inside the Databricks workspace using Databricks Apps, with sign-in handled by the workspace and direct access to Unity Catalog data, for workflows such as scenario builders or tools that replace manual spreadsheet processes.
Machine learning and governed AI: We develop and deploy machine learning with MLflow, and build LLM applications and RAG pipelines governed through Unity Catalog, so AI workloads follow the same access rules as the rest of the data.
What this means for clients
Clients working with our Databricks practice get:
Certified Databricks expertise on your project team.
Direct access to Databricks’ technical resources and partner enablement.
Guidance on DBU-based pricing and cost optimisation, including the compute behind Genie, dashboards and apps.
Genie, dashboards, apps and AI workloads that follow Unity Catalog permissions from the start.
One team across data engineering, AI and delivery, with Omnia’s wider bench joining when a build needs more than one specialism.
Why this partnership matters
Genie answers from the metadata, definitions and example queries a team gives it. We start each Genie Agent with a small set of questions the business already knows the answers to, and we re-run them whenever tables, definitions or instructions change.
Migrating business logic into code matters here because dashboards, Genie and apps all read the same definitions. When one piece of version-controlled code defines revenue, a dashboard, a Genie question and an app return the same number, which avoids the conflicting-dashboards problem we described in our post on the Tableau wave.
Where this is heading
Databricks keeps adding agent and application features to the Databricks Data + AI Platform. Our job is to follow what changes, test what applies to a client’s environment, and bring it in when there is a commercial reason to.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Genie Agent in Databricks?
A Genie Agent (formerly a Genie Space) is a natural language interface over Unity Catalog data. It turns questions into SQL using the table metadata, synonyms and example queries a team curates. Each user’s Unity Catalog permissions apply to the results, including row filters and column masks.
How do dashboards, Genie and apps return the same numbers?
They read the same governed definitions. When version-controlled code defines a metric once, a dashboard, a Genie question and an app all draw on that single definition.
What are Databricks Apps used for?
Databricks Apps hosts web applications inside your Databricks workspace, with workspace sign-in and direct access to Unity Catalog data. They suit interactive internal tools, such as scenario builders or replacements for manual spreadsheet processes. Read-only reporting stays in AI/BI Dashboards.
What does migrating business logic into code involve?
We move calculations out of legacy ETL tools, stored procedures and report layers into version-controlled SQL and Python on Databricks. We then reconcile the outputs against the source system so the numbers match before cutover.
